I can deal with it on the Typo as I mainly just jib around with it and don’t carve that hard. The 2018 Standard also has the new backseat inserts for ripping deep I did look at the Standard just the waist width worries me, ive got my boots down to a size 12 now from a 13 with a much smaller footprint but even then when I am doing big toeside carves I am still getting toe drag on the Typo which has a width of 258mm also. It has the same bamboo+poplar core, same base, same CamRock profile the main difference is the Greats is an Asymmetrical Twin while the Standard is a Directional Volume Twin. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard. The YES Standard is lacking pop and a satisfying turning experience but is a buttery, forgiving, grippy and good floating ride. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. I literally couldn’t kill it, such an awesome all round board, so much have you considered the Standard? It’s the most similar to the Greats, comes in wider widths, and it absolutely rips! For example, the Greats 156 has a 251mm waist but the Standard 156 has a 258mm waist perfect for the big but not huge boot sizes. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers' number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Last year i was dropping bare rocks in spring as i just didn’t care. Id put my skill level at the late stages of beginner so Im not really going fast at the moment but its definitely something I want to progress to in the future. But I read that the standard is better at higher speeds. I’ve flogged mine for 2 seasons now and the bottom has more ptex than base now (not really but it has a lot of war wounds). Im buying my first board right now and am leaning towards the basic. Typo is a really rad board and until they make a Greats in a wide i’ll be sticking with it. Hello and welcome to my YES Typo review. In this review, I will take a look at the Typo as an all-mountain snowboard. As per tradition here at I will give the Typo a score out of 100 (based on several factors) and see how it compares with other all-mountain snowboards.
