![]() Ronald proudly retired from the United States Navy on Jat the rank of GM1 (SW), Gunner’s Mate First Class Petty Officer. ![]() Ronald was also recognized as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. Ronald’s Military Awards and Decorations include the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (w/Three Bronze Stars), Armed Services Medal (w/Two Bronze Stars), Navy Expeditionary Medal, Navy Defense Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, and the Expert Pistol Medal. The Naval Reserve Center, Philadelphia, PA, and the Naval Reserve Professional Center in New Orleans, LA. The USS Frank Cable (AS-40) in Charleston, SC. Throughout his 20 years of Active Duty service, Ronald proudly served under the following commands the USS Blandy (DD-943), USS Barnstable County (LST-1197), USS Emory S Land (AS-39), USS Gunston Hall (LSD-44) and Beachmasters Unit Two, all in Norfolk, VA. ![]() Ronald joined the United States Navy on Jand began his career at the Recruit Training Command (RTC) in San Diego, California. Soon after graduating High School, Ronald made the decision to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. Ronald was educated through the Houston Independent School District (HISD) and graduated from Lamar High School in 1980. Ronald accepted Christ at an early age, as the family attended The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Ronald lived in Waco, Texas until his family moved to Houston, Texas at the age of 11. Franklin in Waco, Texas on January 9, 1962. He was welcomed with open arms by both of his parents, Rollen and Shirley Roberson, his sisters: Canasta Roberson-King, Yvenette Roberson-Chambers, and brother: Ronald Roberson.Ronald Ray Smith was born to the late Evelyn Ann Smith and the late J. On July 20, 2023, God made his call to Victor to let him know that his job here on Earth was well done, as his battle was over. He’ll forever be a Legend, the baby brother, the cool/favorite uncle, and father who was proud of all his children. He was kind, big hearted and there wasn’t a drop of fear in him. He will always be remembered as being charismatic, he had a charm like no other a protector, he was there when anyone needed him, a true warrior. Victor not only was proud of where he was from, but he was also a proud father, uncle, brother, and son he loved his family with everything in him. Here, the natives showed him much respect and love and he lived his life returning the same. He loved Almeda Plaza and the people in it. The basketball court in Almeda Plaza was his domain, where he was considered a Legend. Here and to many others, he was known as “Slick Vic” and he most definitely lived up to this name. Victor was a proud native of Almeda Plaza, “A.P.T.” as he would proudly say. He even had the opportunity to play in a huge basketball tournament in Las Vegas that would have led to trials for the U. In his words, “He was better than Jordan”. While in school (and after), he was deemed as one of the greatest basketball players during his time. Victor received his education here in the H.I.S.D school district gracing the halls of James Madison Sr. ![]() With the guidance of his parents, he accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. ![]() Victor Dematrius Roberson was born on June 11, 1967, in Houston, TX to Rollen and Shirley Roberson. At this point, we understand the journey. We appreciate the miracle of birth, the freedom of childhood, the time to realize adulthood dreams and the joy of living a fulfilled life at peace with ourselves and our creator. The journey of life has taken us through transition, much like the seasons of the year. ![]()
